Saint Rock Haiti Foundation to host special event October 23rd
The Saint Rock Haiti Foundation (SRHF) is excited to announce the 5k Run for the Schools at historic Prowse Farm, 5 Blue Hill River Road in Canton on Sunday, October 23rd. Registration will begin at noon and the run will kick off at 1:00 p.m.
Registration is online at SaintRock.org and costs $35 ($40 day of the run). The route is all on-site at the farm (home to Meditech). Parking and restrooms will be available.
The fun run is raising money for education programs in Saint Rock, Haiti, and surrounding villages. In particular, SRHF is raising money this year to finish building the ICGS school, affectionately referred to as “the James Pierre School.” The school is losing its current site and SRHF is planning to build a new, modern school building in a new location.
The Emerging Leaders Board of SRHF, a young professional board, is organizing the event. “Many of us have been to Saint Rock and have visited the James Pierre School. We thought a fun, easy run would be a great way to raise money and bring awareness to the great work SRHF is doing,” said Mollie White, RN, one of the leaders of the board. “We hope to make this an annual event.”
Sponsors of the event include Piesco Sporting Goods, Shepherd Financial Partners, Elliott Physical Therapy, Donahue Associates, and the Bresnahan Family. The Friends of Prowse farm are hosting the event.
Saint Rock is a rural community in the hills southwest of Port-au-Prince. SRHF has been working with the people of Saint Rock since 2002 and is celebrating 20 years as an organization. The Foundation focuses on healthcare, education, clean water, agriculture, and other community-driven initiatives.
