$30,000 scholarship opportunity for rising high school seniors

The ALKU Scholarship is a $30,000 college scholarship for rising Massachusetts high school seniors who have been engaged in a positive and empowering youth-adult relationship for at least one year. This scholarship provides an opportunity for young people to apply for financial support in pursuit of their goal to attend college and earn a bachelor’s degree.

All application materials must be submitted online by Friday, July 24th, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. Late and/or incomplete applications will not be considered.

Requirements for applicants include:

  • Must be enrolled in a high school in Massachusetts
  • Must be a rising senior (will be a high school senior in Fall 2020)
  • Must attend a four-year, accredited institution for a bachelor’s degree in any field, beginning in Fall 2021
  • must be engaged in a positive and empowering mentor-mentee relationship that has been in existence for at least one year
  • and more

Applications will be evaluated according to the following criteria:

1. Demonstrated need for scholarship
2. Clear desire, motivation, and passion to attend college (please indicate a post-secondary education plan, if applicable)
3. Establishment of the impactful mentoring relationship
4. Demonstrated work and/or leadership experience outside of school (employment, internships, volunteer work, community involvement, etc.)

If awarded, Mass Mentoring Partnership (MMP) requires the following:

1. Signed ALKU Scholarship Award Letter
2. Signed Media Consent Form (must be signed by parent/guardian if scholar is under the age of 18)
3. Participation by scholar and mentor in Mass Mentoring Partnership’s virtual event in Fall 2020 (details TBD). During this virtual event, Mark Eldridge, ALKU CEO, and founder of the ALKU Scholarship, along with other ALKU employees, will present you with this award. Winners are expected to attend an annual meeting with previous ALKU scholars as well.
4. Yearly updates on college GPA. Scholars must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.75 to keep their scholarship award.
