Kyan Thornton announces candidacy for re-election to Milton Town Meeting, Precinct 1
I’d like to announce my candidacy for re-election to Town Meeting for Precinct 1, and I am excited for the opportunity to continue serving my neighbors in Precinct 1. As a TMM for the last 4 years, I attended every town meeting to ensure that town government prioritized the concerns of Milton’s diverse populace and remained inclusive of residents from all cultural backgrounds and sexual orientations. If re-elected, I will work to make sure we consider a full range of perspectives when approving town budgets and tax overrides, commercial and residential development, affordable housing, and overcrowding in our schools.
I am in favor of responsible commercial development, building a new school to address overcrowding, looking out for our seniors and others by approving Accessory Dwelling Unit permits, and finding creative ways to increase our affordable housing stock without overrunning our town with giant apartment blocks.
Additionally, I acknowledge the need for, and support, increased DEI initiatives in our schools, and the Milton Anti-Racism Coalition’s platform and efforts. I’m honored to be considered once again to represent my precinct at Town Meeting.
